Stephen D. Meyer, 77, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at his home. He was born on November 26, 1947, in Springfield, to Harry C. and LuElla (Daniel) Meyer. He married Darla R. Ashmore in 1991, and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2016.

 He is also preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Meyer; and daughter-in-law, Melody Meyer.

 Survivors include two sons, Joshua (Melody) Meyer of Springfield and Brian (Lisa) Meyer of Springfield; two stepsons, Christopher Wagehoft of Morrisonville and Matthew Wagehoft of Springfield; five grandchildren, Amber, Riley, Cameron, Ella, and Ethan; two brothers, Reverend Harry (Linda) Meyer of Hillsboro and Thomas (Luann) Meyer of Sherman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Stephen was a member of South Side Christian Church, where he served as an elder and deacon. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Sangamon County for twenty-six years.

 Visitation: 9:00 – 11:00 am, Friday, December 5, 2025, at South Side Christian Church.

 Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Friday, December 5, 2025, at South Side Christian Church with Pastor Brooks Wilson officiating. A burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
