Stephen “Steve” D. Shelton, 71, of Springfield, IL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born in Pittsfield, IL, on January 9, 1954, the son of Wayne and Corinne (Tayon) Shelton. Stephen married the love of his life, Debbie Burrows, on December 21, 1973. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and faithful friend.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah J. Shelton; sons, Michael (Victoria) Shelton of Buda, TX and Gregory (Lisa) Shelton of Springfield; six grandchildren, Landon, Levi, Cecil Jackson, and Goldie Mae (children of Mike), and Madeline and Landon (children of Greg); sister, Tammy (Joe) Jennings of Pittsfield, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Dark.
Stephen proudly served in the United States Army from 1973-1979 and was stationed in Germany for 2.5 years. He founded Solution Printing in 2003 and loved serving the community alongside his family.
He will be remembered for his strong dedication to his family, and the warmth and wisdom he shared with everyone he met. His legacy of love and faith will continue through those who were blessed to know him.
Memorial Gathering: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Monday, March 17, 2025, at West Side Christian Church.
Memorial Service: 12:00 pm, Monday, March 17, 2025, at West Side Christian Church with Cindy Lash officiating.
Graveside Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
