Suzann “Suzie” Kay Weissberg, 77, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Concordia Village. She was born December 20, 1945, in Springfield, the daughter of Frank J. and Ruth V. (Neuner) Lee. She married Karl “Mick” Weissberg on June 7, 1980 and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2020.

She is also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her two children: son, John M. Weissberg of Brookfield, IL and daughter, Andrea L. (Ryan) Kane of St. Charles, IL; two grandchildren, Aria Grace and Coralie Mae Weissberg; two step-grandchildren, Samantha and Patrick Kane; brother, Chuck (Linda) Lee of Springfield; sister-in-law, Caroline Londrigan; two brothers-in-law, John W. (Lois) Weissberg and Ross Buie; special niece, Monica Lee; three special nephews, John, Joe and Jim Lee; and many other amazing nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Suzie was a resident of Springfield all her life. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, having served on the Church Council, Leadership Board, Social Ministry Team, and Neighborhood Outreach Team. She also served on the board of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association, ICON (Inner City Older Neighborhoods) and was a founding member of the Oak Ridge Cemetery Foundation.

Suzie worked for the City of Springfield Building and Zoning Department for 25 years, retiring in 2010 as the Assistant Zoning Administrator. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers.

Family Hosted Memorial Gathering: 10 – 11:15 am, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Family Hosted Memorial Service:  11:30 am, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Busboom officiating. A private burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
