Theodore Patton Hensley, 86, of Springfield, IL, formerly of London, KY, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Theodore was born on May 8, 1939, in Hazel Green, KY, to Harvey and Ollie Mae (Patton) Hensley. He married the love of his life, Sharlette Jean Rush, on December 31, 1964, and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Sharlene E. (Janardhana) Prabhu of Springfield, IL; granddaughters, Janasha Prabhu, Neena Prabhu, and Sarita (Nicholas) Schuster; sisters, Judy Caudill and Joyce (Gus) Oviedo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and seven sisters.
Theodore graduated from Hazel Green High School and then served in the United States Air National Guard. He then attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Theodore worked for Kanab Coal Mining Co. for many years before starting his own business, Ted Hensley Engineering and Surveying, which was located in London, KY, operating it for many years before retirement.
He was a long-time resident of London, KY before moving to Springfield. His faith was very important to him and he was a member of First Baptist Church and then Corinth Baptist Church, both of which are in London, KY. In his free time, he loved golfing, playing billiards and could always make someone laugh with one of his jokes.

Graveside Service: 11:00 am, Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Landrum Cemetery in East Bernstadt, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Landrum Cemetery for the upkeep of the grounds.
