Thomas “Tom” Vergil Pruett, 83, of Springfield, IL, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1942, in Alton, IL, to Vergil Otha Pruett and Clara Katherine (Haufe) Pruett.
Tom lived with unmistakable energy and a spirit always in motion. An avid outdoorsman and motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed dirt bike racing, Harley rides, fishing, golfing, hunting, and sporting clays. He cherished time with family and friends wherever his adventurous spirit took him.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force. A career entrepreneur, Tom was the longtime owner of Aqualand Pool and Patio, building it into a successful business for more than 40 years. His legacy continues through its ongoing operation under the leadership of his daughter, Tammy. He was known for his skill, determination, and ability to tackle even the most challenging projects.
Tom would want those who knew him to live life fully—chasing the next ride, the next big catch, and the moments in between.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Sue Pruett (Ozee); his children, Tammy L. Hunt (Harry), Thomas V. Pruett Jr., and Tracy Timura (John); his grandchildren, Breanna Flowers (Zachary) and Cody James Hunt; his great-grandson, Cooper James Hunt; and his siblings, Kevin Pruett and Bonnie Ann Mundy. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and Alan Pruett.
Cremation entrusted to Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Church.
