Troy D. Busby, Jr., 63, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was born on April 30, 1963, in Springfield, IL, the son of Troy D. and Betty (Evans) Busby, Sr. They preceded him in death.
Troy was a 1981 graduate of Lanphier High School. He had a tender respect for life, and he found joy in the simple, honest companionship that animals offer. Music was one of the ways he expressed himself. He especially enjoyed playing the banjo, an instrument that matched his spirit with its warmth, rhythm, and soul.
Troy is survived by his two sisters, Tracy Morgan of Sherman, IL and The Reverend Kathleen C. Busby, (husband, The Reverend William Waff) of Weaverville, NC. He is also survived by his niece, Meaghan Waff of Alexandria, VA, and by several cousins.
Troy was gentle in spirit, kind in action, and wise in the way he understood people and life. He lived with those qualities, and because he did, he made the world better in ways both seen and unseen.
Troy showed that a life can be powerful when it is lived with grace. He leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and humanity, and that legacy will continue to speak for him.
His memory stands as a reminder to live with kindness, to value family, to cherish simple joys, and to walk through life with wisdom and heart.
