Adolph Louis Koester, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at his home. He was born March 1, 1940, in Neoga, IL, the son of Alfred and Catherine (Keck) Koester and they preceded him in death.

He is also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Nicholson of Salisbury, MD and Doran (Daniel) Richards of Middletown, VA; five sons, Brett Koester of Locust Grove, VA, Chet (Karla) Koester of Belleville, Edward (Linda) Koester of Sandy Creek, NY, Finnian Koester Cornelison of St. Hedwig, TX, and Travis (Megan) Koester of Springfield; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Madonna Goeckner of Altamont; two brothers, Cletus (Betty) Koester and Thomas Koester, both of Effingham; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Adolph was of the Catholic faith and a member of Church of the Little Flower and former member of St. Patrick’s Church in Mt. Dora, FL. While in Florida, he was very active with the Knights of Columbus. He worked as a machinist for Caterpillar, retiring with over 30 years of service. He was an avid bowler, loved to shoot pool and enjoyed rebuilding engines. He enjoyed fishing and later, eating the catch of the day. He was a jack of all trades. Adolph adored his family, and they lit up his entire world.

Visitation: 10 – 11:15 am Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr, Springfield, IL.

Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr, Springfield, IL, with Reverend Allen Kemme officiating. A burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
