Anita Louise Virgin (Fahrenbacher), age 77, left this earth on March 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 25, 1946, in Springfield, IL.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Dutch Fahrenbacher, and her husband, Charlie Virgin.

She leaves behind her sister, Anna Marie Figueira, her four children, Chuck Virgin, Andrea Fahrenbacher, Brigett Virgin, and Bryan Virgin (wife Nikki), 2 grandsons whom she thought the world of, Augustus (Gus) and Ambrose {Bo), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Anita attended St. Francis Cabrini Grade School and graduated from Ursuline Academy.

If you were lucky enough to know Anita, you knew she had a heart of gold. Anita was not only "mom" to her own children but to every child in the neighborhood. Whether you needed a place to stay or a compassionate ear, Anita was always there for you.

Anita loved a good road trip. Whether it was navigating icy mountain roads to visit her sister, seeing Don Quixote on Broadway, driving to Arizona for a family vacation, finding a good craft fair, or just taking a day trip for lunch, she was all in.

As the proud owner of Anita's Beauty Shop, she broke barriers at a time when women faced numerous obstacles in business. She was a progressive woman in her own right and passed that on to her children. She taught them that anything worth doing was worth doing well. And that you never had to do those things alone because she was always there to give advice and help cheer you on.

Known for her impeccable sense of fashion and a knack for being fashionably late. Anita's husband often joked that he had to tell her everything started half an hour before it did to get her there on time. As Anita grew older, she traded in her bellbottoms and cute tops for the comfort of shorts and a T-shirt, regardless of the weather. And when she arrived late you had better be prepared with a sweater and a blanket because she was going to be cold.

Even as Rheumatoid Arthritis set in, Anita loved it when the family got together. And relished the joy of having her children and grandchildren together. To her, family was anyone who sought warmth and companionship. All were welcome in her home.

Anita leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and boundless love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
