With hearts full of loving memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Bobbie June Montgomery, a truly remarkable woman whose faith and love touched countless lives. Born on October 24, 1934, in Belknap, IL, to the late William J. Davidson and Esta Leona Robertson, Bobbie spent a life defined by devotion to her family, her work, and her Lord. She was called to her eternal rest on March 10, 2026, in Springfield, IL.
Bobbie was a proud graduate of Vienna High School. After moving to Springfield following her graduation, she blossomed in both her personal and professional life. She met the love of her life, Thomas L. Montgomery, at West Side Christian Church. Their union on November 20, 1955, was one of enduring love and partnership until Thomas's passing on January 18, 1996.
Bobbie’s career began as a keypunch operator at International Harvester, then as a dedicated secretary to the Postmaster at the USPS, before serving as a Postmaster at various post offices in Central IL. Her career culminated as the Director of Human Resources in 2002, where her guidance and wisdom left an indelible mark.
She was a longtime member of West Side Christian Church. Her unwavering faith was evident in all she did, including serving as a founding member of the TNT class. Her religious conviction guided her life and was a source of comfort and inspiration for those who knew her.
Bobbie's zest for life shone through her many interests. She was a voracious reader, skilled quilter, talented pianist and violinist. She also found solace in her garden, and took great joy in feeding the birds in her yard.
Bobbie's greatest legacy, however, lies in her cherished family. She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Curtis) Bundy of Auburn, Patricia Montgomery of Springfield, Melinda (Wayne) Burrows of Yorkville, and her son, Thomas Brian (Veronica) Montgomery of Maroa. Her love and teachings live on through her seven grandchildren, Samantha Bundy, Jared (Jeannie) Bundy, Melissa (Jeremy) Young, Allison Montgomery, Kara Montgomery, Emily (Conor) O’Reilly, and Sarah Burrows, and her eight great-grandchildren, Amanda, Molly, Piper, Emma, Liam, Harper, Remington, and Colton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Velma Ballard, her brother, Paul Davidson and other beloved family.
Bobbie was a loving, spunky, and faith-filled matriarch whose absence will be deeply felt. As we bid her farewell, we take comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into the arms of our Savior, leaving us with a legacy of love.
