Bonnie J. Gahwiler, 95, of Springfield, died at 10:59 pm, Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Villa Healthcare East in Sherman. She was born November 26, 1928 in Maroa, IL, to Elmer Austin and Hazel Edna (Morrow) Liming. She married Joseph John Gahwiler on February 5, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 13, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Berry of Bluffs, IL and Linda Gahwiler of Shelbyville, KY; two grandchildren, Kyle (Megan) Berry and Kimberly (Matt) Parker; five grandchildren, Cora and Violet Parker and Olivia, Sophia and Nora Berry; one sister Joan Brohard of Moroa, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one sister, Della Smart.

Bonnie was a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church.

She was a lifelong learner who enjoyed writing poetry, gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Visitation: 9:30 – 11 am, Monday, April 22, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, April 22, 2024 at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church with Reverend Meredith Manning Brown officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church or Memorial Hospice.
