Bruce Allen Jameson, 69, of Springfield, Illinois passed away at his beloved family home on the ranch on Friday, March 27, 2026. He was born at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL on May 13, 1956, the son of Hugh William “Bill” and Dorothy Jean (Ryan) Jameson.

Bruce is survived by his four children; Melissa Jameson of Fort Collins, CO, Jamie (Jeff) Kaufmann of Springfield, IL, Ashley (Chad) Turner of Jacksonville, IL, and Neil (Janet) Hatcher of Pleasant Plains, IL; six grandchildren, Miles and Graham Kaufmann, Josie Hatcher, Rowan Lipscomb, Jensyn Handy, and Maverick Turner; five brothers, Hugh, Mike, Richard, Steve, and Brian (Nancy) Jameson; and many nieces, and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Mark Jameson, Jamie Jameson, and Sally Jameson; and his daughter Kendra Hatcher.

Bruce graduated from Springfield High School in 1974. A country boy at heart, he worked as a farmhand in his early years, later purchasing land from the same farm to build his homestead. After graduation, Bruce went on to work as a heavy equipment mechanic, further honing the mechanical skills he became known for. He joined the Local Laborers Union 477 in 1983, working his way to foreman and eventually a superintendent of Halverson Construction. Along the way, he also worked with HAT Construction and Perry Broughton Trucking and Excavating. His successful career included implementing notable civil projects around Illinois.

Bruce was an exceptionally hardworking and resourceful man. He raised a wide variety of animals over the years and took pride in creating a life close to the land. After retirement, he spent much of his time relaxing at his river getaway and tinkering on his ranch. Never one to sit still, he was always working on a new project or helping others with theirs. He remained a trusted resource to friends and neighbors, often called upon for his knowledge, integrity, and practical skill.

Bruce’s generosity and easygoing spirit brought people together. His fish fries, BBQs, and garage get-togethers created lasting memories for friends and family alike. Bruce was always ready to make a meal for his people, served with ice-cold beer, country music, one- liners, and nicknames. Friends and family will forever remember his knack for stirring things up in the most memorable ways, making rounds on the ranch on the four wheelers, snowmobiles, and pulling his children on sleds behind “the jeep”.

Above all, Bruce was a devoted father. Though often a man of few words, his love for his family was deeply felt. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the memories he helped create.

Private graveside memorial services were held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Farmington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Bruce may be made to the Central Illinois Foodbank or Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County.
