Carl W. Biesenthal Jr., 94, of Joplin, MO, passed away on September 13, 2025. Carl was born on November 7, 1930, in Springfield, IL to Carl and Olga (Dollar) Biesenthal Sr. Carl married the love of his life, Theresa Marie Kohlrus on September 20, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield and she preceded him in death on December 15, 2015.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Donna Kinzora and Mary “Linda” Stephens; and sister, Betty Briggs.

He is survived by his six grandchildren, Carla (Steve) Wilson, Kendra (Tracy) Painter, Courtney Stephens, Megan Stephens, Katie Sullivan, and Abby Stephens; several great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

Carl graduated from Lanphier High School. He is a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Carl worked for the United States postal service as a letter carrier in Springfield, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Postal Club in Springfield before retirement.

Carl and his wife moved to Lake Ka-Ho near Mt. Olive after retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to yard work. His favorite past time was spending time with his family.

Visitation: 9:30 am – 10:30 am, Monday, September 29, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Monday, September 29, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Ryan H. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
