Carrie M. Ruth 84, of Springfield died at 4:46 pm, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at her home. She was born July 19, 1939 in Pennington Gap, VA to Harrison and Martha Allen Collier. She married Arthur Ruth on September 15, 1956 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sonya Ruth; three sisters, Lenice Harman, Hascue Spears, and Lillian Cheek and three brothers, Eddie, Ford and Sylvester Collier.
Survivors include two children, Cara (Terry) Pederson of Springfield and Michael (Christine) Ruth of Hobe Sound, FL; four grandchildren, Jessica Mason, Jevon Shaw, Tana Hersch, and Amy McTigue; seven great grandchildren, Grant, Wesley, Sherry, Jillian, Adeline, Emmitt, and Addison; one sister, Geneva Wells of Crawley, TX and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of Life: 4 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Cindy Lash officiating.
Graveside Service: 10 am, Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control.
