Catherine L. “Aunt Catherine” Staab, 91, of Springfield, died at 1:11 am, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home. She was born November 20, 1925 in Springfield, IL to George J. and Christine (Ize) Staab. 

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Jean A. Staab of Springfield; four nieces; three nephews; several great and great great nieces and nephews; several cousins and her constant companion and beloved dog, Rosie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marie Staab and three brothers, George, Paul and Vincent Staab.

Catherine was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association where she was a 50+ year licensee. She retired as a partner of Staab Funeral Home after many years of service.

Aunt Catherine looked forward to her countless visitors, including many clergy and religious.  She enjoyed sitting around the dining room table with her family, visiting with her great nieces and nephews, sharing a meal, playing cards and a good martini.

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. 

Funeral Mass: A concelebrated funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
