Chanpheng Souvanhnasy, 78, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Aperion Care Capitol. She was born on May 8, 1945 in Champassak, Laos to Sovath and Douangchanh and they preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Paul Sithiphong on March 20, 1992 and he survives.
Also surviving Chanpheng is her son, Thanom (Sai) Souvanhnasy of Holland, MI; daughter, Chanthone Phabounmy; two grandchildren, Tommy and Annita Souvanhnasy; brother, Banthao (LaDawna) Douangsovath of Waltham, MA; and several other siblings in Laos.
Chanpheng moved from Laos to the United States in 1980.
She settled in Springfield, IL and worked as a cook at her good friend’s restaurant, Thai Kitchen II. She was a member of the Wat Buddha Samagkeedham Temple in St. Louis, MO.
Cremation was arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield and no services at this time.
