Cherie Rae (Guimard) Payne 73, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at her home. She was born May 10, 1951, the daughter of Ray and Letha Milligan Guimard of Springfield, Illinois. She married Harold Payne on October 4, 1972.


She is survived by her loving husband; father, Raymond Guimard; son, Chad Payne; daughter, Rachel (Jason) Voyles; three grandchildren, Bryce (Taylor), Farrah and Ryker Barnes; a great grandchild on the way; Siblings, Fannie Swan of Oregon, Ronnie (Mary) Bitschenauer of Springfield, John (Mary Pat) Earl of Tucson AZ, Michelle (Denny) Moscardelli of Springfield; Brother-in-law, Todd L. Payne and sister-in-law, Diane (Jerry) Casper.

She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Max Earl.

Cherie retired from St. John’s Hospital after twenty plus years as a unit clerk. She also worked as a waitress for Watt Bros. Pharmacy, B&G Café and part time for Paris Cleaners front desk.

She was a lifelong member of Church of the Little Flower and a proud long time Red Hat Lady. She was a fifty plus years Bunco Club member; a member of St. Teresa Guild of Little Flower Church and a member of Starlite Campers of Jacksonville. She loved the outdoors, gardening in her yard, her diamond art and her grandchildren.

Visitation: 11 am – 1 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Al Kemme officiating. Burial will follow at Farmingdale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Church of The Little Flower.
