Cheryl Ann Wubker, 80, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. She was born on May 24, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Wayne and Yvonne (Bennett) Smith.

Cheryl is survived by her two children, Amy Machin of Springfield and Brian (Kathleen) Wubker of Neptune Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Sophia and Bennett Wubker, Allison (Luke Jackson) Jacobs, and Wesley Hine; two great-grandchildren, Zaiden and Oakland Jackson; sister, Nancy Nichols of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Smith.

Cheryl retired from AT&T after a 30-year career as a Senior Plant Assigner. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Watching her Sunday school children grow in their faith and learn about the Lord was an experience Cheryl deeply treasured. She was also a member of the Springfield Garden Club.

Cheryl was a wonderful cook and enjoyed getting together with her friends for brunch. She loved traveling, especially to Florida. Above all, Cheryl adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with them and never hesitated to get right in the middle of their activities and participate in whatever mischief they had in mind.
