Chung H. Oh, 84, of Springfield, passed away at 3:15 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Chung was born May 15, 1939 in Icheon, South Korea, the son of In Guen and Sam Sun (Park) Oh. Chung was preceded in death by his parents. He married Bok Im Cho in 1968 in Icheon, South Korea, and the couple cherished 55 years of marriage.
Chung, alongside his wife and their two children, Grace and Samuel, immigrated to the United States on January 28, 1988. He quickly adapted to his new and eventful life, spending quality time with family and at work, where he retired as a butcher in Chicago, IL.
Chung enjoyed a simple and tender life of traveling, sightseeing deer near home, performing afternoon yard work, watching Korean T.V. And going out to eat with family.
He especially valued the importance of being close to family, oftentimes with his grandchildren in his later years through laughter and sharing stories. He was known and will be remembered as a thoughtful and considerate husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed.
Chung is survived by his wife, Bok Im and their two children: Grace (Jay Joon) Park of Chatham; son, Samuel Oh of Springfield, IL.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Daniel Park and Michelle Park; a brother Myung Hwan Oh and three sisters, Young Sook Oh, Soon Hee Oh and Sang Sook Oh.
