Claralynn “Lindy” Marshall, 80, of Williamsville passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Lindy was born July 3, 1943, the daughter of Carroll and Calla (Alexander) Wood of Arenzville, Illinois. They preceded her in death. She met William “Ted” Marshall in Denver, Colorado, and they married on August 7, 1965. They remained in Denver for several years before moving back to Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2017.
Lindy graduated from Triopia High School. She began her professional career with the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid, enjoyed many years working as a library assistant and administrative assistant to the principal at Williamsville Junior High School, and returned to the Department of Public Aid before retiring in 2002.
Her favorite job, however, was being “Gommy” to her grandchildren, Claire and Will, and her four-legged grandchild, Lola. She loved them dearly. She was a fiercely loyal friend to many, loved to laugh, and was a generous supporter of charitable organizations near to her heart. She enjoyed football, jazz music, strawberries, porch swings, flower gardens, vanilla lattes, and a nicely wrapped present.
She is survived by her daughter Gina (Scott) Larkin of Williamsville and their children, Claire and Will; brother James Wood of Battle Ground, WA; and special niece Michelle Steele of Vancouver, WA.
Memorial gathering: 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Sherman, 2626 E. Andrew Road, Sherman, IL. Burial will be a Walnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or the Williamsville Garden Club, PO Box 94, Williamsville, IL 62693.
