Cynthia Susan Ritchie, 65, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 6, 1958, in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of William and Patsy (Bull) Busch of Chatham and they survive.

Also surviving are her fiancé, David “Goose” Simmons of Springfield; daughter, Kristina (Corey) Helmerichs of Springfield; two grandchildren, Bella and Trinity; two sisters, Diane (Tim) Townsend and Jill Dozier, both of Chatham; two aunts, Jackie and Donna of Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her son, Joseph Ryan Gerlach.

Cynthia enjoyed sewing, cooking, and going out to eat. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. Cynthia provided for her family as a homemaker.

Cremation has been arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
