Darrell Lee Holladay, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Springfield, died at 11:50 pm, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln. He was born October 28, 1934 in Irving, IL, the son of Glenn and Doris (Perkins) Holladay. He married Carole Annize Flood April 28, 1962 and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2022.

He is survived by three children, Cheryl (Terry) Aper of Lincoln, Jeffrey Holladay of Springfield and Gary (Ann) Holladay of Mt. Auburn, IL; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Meyers of Florida; sister-in-law, Nancy (Ed) Flood-Golembeck of Springfield and two nephews, Mark Meyers (Julie) of TX and Michael Meyers of FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandchild, Harper Jo Holladay.

Darrell had a career that began at his father's Sinclair service station in Litchfield, IL until he served with the US Navy during the Korean conflict. Upon his return stateside he worked as a truck driver, then with the US Postal Service until finally returning to truck driving to finish his career before retiring in 2014. Darrell loved traveling and working in the antique business with his wife in their retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln as well as a long-time member of Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

Memorial Service at 10:30 am, Monday, February 12 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Adam Quine officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.
