David Anthony Dye, 69 of Springfield, died at 3:23 pm, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born December 5, 1953 in Springfield to John R. “Jack” and Audrey M. Oldani Dye.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Anne Carey of Springfield; one brother, Duane A. “Bone” (Lori) Dye, of Springfield; two nieces and one nephew, Maya and Mitch Dye and Avryl (RJ) Craig and two great nephews, Damian Crowder and Jayson Webb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Daniel Dye and one brother-in-law, Daniel Carey.
David was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School and a member of St. Joseph Church. He previously worked for the Department of Agriculture, Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois, SIU Community Support Network, and Central Illinois Ice Company.
He was an avid New York Yankees and Boston Celtics fan. David was also a selfless individual who liked to help people when he could. Even after his passing, he was able to help many individuals with the gift of organ and tissue donation through Gift of Hope.
The family would like to extend a warm and grateful thank you to the nursing staff at Springfield Memorial Hospital and Heritage Manor in Jacksonville for all the wonderful care given to David.
Memorial Gathering: 9:30 am – 11:30 am, Monday, June 12, 2023 at St. Joseph Church.
Memorial Mass: 11:30 am, Monday, June 12, 2023 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Manuel P. Cuizon officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or Sacred Heart- Griffin High School.
