Dixie Gwynne Mayse went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 29th, 2025. She was born in the family farmhouse along Spring Creek in Dunnegan, Missouri on November 5th, 1929. She was born to Ernest Hugh Curl, a farmer and Baptist Preacher and Mabel Hopkins Curl, a farm housewife and church pianist. Dixie was a strong Christian and retained her unwavering faith into her death.
She loved all of the animals on the farm, especially the dogs, and always had a dog in her life until near her death. She was an avid bird watcher, gifted quilter, gardener, canner, cook and made her much requested Angel food cakes for family and church events.
She married Clyde Leon Mayse on July 29th, 1946. She shared 62 years of happy marriage until his death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Heather Knudsen and grandson Jeffrey Mayse. She is survived by her three sons, Larry Mayse and his wife Linda, Randy Mayse and wife Sue, and David Mayse and wife Luzy, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Bill Rahe officiating.
The family will greet family and friends at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, MO on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of graveside service at 10:30 am. Greenwood-Pitts Funeral Home is in charge of Missouri services.
