Donald D. Dellert, Sr., 89, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born March 20, 1934, in Springfield, the son of Paul and Evelyn (Bosse) Dellert. He married Marilyn Baker on October 16, 1955 and she preceded him in death on October 7, 2020.
He is also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Diana (Larry) Kluckman of Lake Ozark, MO; two sons, Donald (Sarah) Dellert, Jr. of Springfield and David (Mary) Dellert of Sherman; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Chloe) Kluckman, Lauren (Andrew) Meneghetti, Nick Dellert, Zack Dellert, Jack Dietl, and Kate Dietl; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Thomas, Elia, Isla, Dominic, and Jayme; sister, Elizabeth Ward of McKinley, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donald graduated from Springfield High School and was in the United States Navy Reserves for 8 years. He was a long time and active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was a proud second-generation owner, since 1970 of Dellert’s Paints.
Visitation: 4:30 – 6:30 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A second visitation will be held from 10 – 11 am, Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Strader. A burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
