Joan Robbins, 92, of Tampa, FL, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away on July 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. She was born on April 10, 1934, to Harlan Omer Davis and Edna Eulalia Heinkle Davis. She married her love, Charles “Charlie” E. Robbins on December 27, 1991, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2012.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Kristie (Rick) Brandt of Tampa, FL and Kimberly “Kim” S. Noonan of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Hanna L. (Mike) Noonan-Smith of Tampa, Ridgely C. Noonan of St. Petersburg, Davis A. Noonan of Edwardsville, and Sierra-Shae (fiancé, Billy Fea) Brandt of Tampa; and great-grandchild, Violet Joan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie; two sisters, Marvel Dickinson and Jean E. Nickel; and the father of her children, Alvin “Sonny” Schroll.
Joan lived in Central IL and the Springfield area for most of her life and was a 1951 graduate of Pawnee High School. She worked for many years as the Executive Assistant to the IL Secretary of State.
Joan truly loved her and Charlie’s winter trips to Florida and always admired its east coast. She was very crafty and truly enjoyed crocheting quilts by the hundreds and creating beautiful greeting and holiday cards, in which she always donated to brighten another’s day.
Visitation: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Private burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Springfield, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Joan may be made to: The Animal Protective League; WILD Canine Rescue; or The Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
