On Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, Donna Marie Gardner passed away at the age of 82. Donna was born on May 10th, 1941 in Springfield, Illinois. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and earned a B.S. in Education from Eastern Illinois University and a M.S. in Education from Western Illinois University. Donna married John (Jack) Gardner on April 4, 1964 and together they raised three sons. Donna spent 25 years as a teacher in Springfield School District 186 with most of her career at Jane Adams Elementary School.

Donna had a passion for her family and loved spending time in her flower garden. She also enjoyed bird watching and was an avid reader.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward L. Pruitt Sr. and Mary Klier Pruitt, her husband Jack and her brother-in-law James Gardner. She is survived by her three sons Mark, Greg and Brad, her brothers Edward L. Pruitt Jr. (Marian) and John P. Pruitt, nine grandchildren, a great-grandson, her sister-in-law Janet Gardner and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at Staab Funeral Home at 1109 S 5th St. in Springfield. Visitation is from 10:00am-10:30am. and the funeral service at 10:30am. Burial at Rochester Cemetery following the service. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
