Doris Jean Reed 72, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born June 12, 1951, in Springfield to Betty and Lawnie Anspaugh Goff. She married Wallace H. Reed on March 4, 1972 and he survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Christa Reed.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace; sister, Carol Ann (James) Turner; her two sons, Darrin (Candy) Reed and Michael (Amanda) Reed; eight grandchildren, Aliya Ross, Breeanna Reed, Brittany Reed, Ella Reed, Jameson Reed, Quentin Ross, Thomas Reed and Vanessa (Robert) Reed; four great grandchildren, Ben, Dani, Nova and Sam; brother-in-law, David (Tammy) Couts of Springfield; sister-in-law, Joyce Gunderson of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She previously had worked for the state of Illinois; as a nurse at St. John’s Hospital; for Wrens refinishing shop and at the church preschool.

She loved attending church and enjoyed flowers and visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation: 9:00 – 10:30 am, Monday, March 25, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Monday, March 25, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran with Reverend James Stuenkel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Auxiliary.
