Dwayne A. Curtis, Sr., 92 of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at his home. He was born July 21, 1931 in Paxton, IL, the son of Harry and Nellie (Holowell) Curtis.

He served his country during the Korean War. He served in the Marine Corps. from 1950-1955 and was last stationed at Camp LeJune, NC where he met his wife Ann Melton Curtis. They were married April 20, 1955. Also surviving one daughter, Deborah Hunt; daughter-in-law, Brenda Curtis; special family friend, Paul Edwards; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Dwayne retired in 1992 from the Springfield Police Department with 26 years of service and from St. Johns in 1992.

Preceding him in death, his son, Dwayne Jr.; parents; two brothers, Harry Curtis Sr. and Warren Curtis; one sister, Pearl Langenfeld and son-in-law, Glenn D. Hunt.

He loved and played the game of golf for 54 years. A private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
