Edna Evelyn (Holliday) Rybar of Springfield, Illinois was promoted to her heavenly home on June 24, 2023 at the age of ninety-seven.

She was born in Bunceton, Mo to Arthur L. and Clara (Schmidt) Holliday on February 27, 1926, the third of twelve children. She grew up on the family farm, and married John T. Rybar on May 8th, 1948. She retired from three different corporations, working as a bookkeeper. At home she was an avid gardener growing anything, from beautiful roses to many types of vegetables. She was famous in her family for being an expert in the long process of curing and canning sauerkraut.

Edna was an active member of Cherry Hills Church and the Kingdom Builder’s Sunday School class. She was involved in many ministries such as being a deaconess and watching babies for the Mom’s Group for many years. She helped sort clothing donations at Washington Street Mission faithfully every week. She had a wonderful gift of hospitality, was a wonderful cook and a welcoming hostess. Visiting her home, there would more than likely be pie involved. Her strong hands have peeled orchards of apples.

Her most important ministry at Cherry Hills was being a missionary. She was an encouraging missionary to a young family in 1991. Her actions helped lead them to the Lord and her loving heart let them be part of her family.

Edna will be greatly missed by this family, Kimberly and Floyd Disney and Jack and Shelbie McCabe. She will also be greatly missed by her brothers Sam (Bonnie) Holliday and Roy

(Pearl) Holliday; and her sisters Rose Fontana, Doris Owens, Nancy Moser, Jane Friedrich and Joy Clingenpeel. She had many nieces and nephews who will miss “Aunt Tuff.”

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, her sister Lois Nott, brothers Arthur Holliday Jr. and Earl “Bill” Holliday, her sister-in-law Juanita Holliday and brothers-in-law Al Fontana, Sam Moser, Tom Friedrich, Jim Tate and Joe Nott.

The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Cathy McAfee and Betsy at Springfield Clinic and a special thanks for the exceptional care by ALL caregivers and staff at Springfield Memorial Hospital for her final days.
