Elizabeth “Liz” Carol Ryner, 84, of Springfield, went home to be with our Lord, at 1:00 am, Monday, March 4, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital surrounded by her beloved family. She was born to Lambert and Beatrice (Leadabrand) Albright on August 18, 1939. She married her best friend, Lawrence “Larry” Dean Ryner on April 4, 1958. He survives.

Also surviving are sons, Randy Ryner of Springfield and Rod (Darlene) Ryner of Harrisburg; daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Watts of Springfield; grandchildren: Jordan (Ross) Smith, Andy and Nate Ryner; Carlie Ryner; Colin, Erin and Liam Watts; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeff Ryner and eight siblings.

She retired from the Personnel Office of the Illinois State Police after many years of service.

Liz loved her family immensely. She was a strong, kind, generous, funny, and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, in-law and grandmother. 

Liz enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching movies, supporting her grandkids, “interior design” and playing cards with her true love, Larry.

Cremation provided by Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

A family Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 am, Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Church of the Little Flower. A Memorial Mass will take place at 11 am. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Church of the Little Flower; or to St. Agnes Church.
