Elizabeth N. “Ban” Kloppenburg, 95, of Chatham passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Reflections Memory Care in Chatham. She was born on February 27, 1930, in Springfield, the daughter of Henry “Bud” and Marion (Ferns) Nelch. She married Carl B. Kloppenburg on November 17, 1951, and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1985.

 Elizabeth is survived by one daughter, Carla (Maury) Foreman of Fernandina Beach, FL; one son, John (Patricia) Kloppenburg of O’Fallon, MO; two grandchildren; one sister, Judy (Gary) Gray of Pagosa Springs, CO; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Robinette; parents; one brother, Keith Nelch; two sisters, Marion Blodgett and an infant sister.

 Elizabeth volunteered for several organizations in Springfield throughout her life. She volunteered with the Springfield Art Association for over sixty years and held multiple positions on their board. She was a nominee for the First Citizen of Springfield.

 Elizabeth was a homemaker and cared for family throughout her life. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

 Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Jeffrey Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
