Floyd R. Houk passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at, St. John’s Hospital. He was born in Cooper Township, Sangamon County, the son of Durward and Bessie (Rose) Houk. He married Artrude Priddle on April 13, 1953, and two children were born from this marriage. Artrude and Floyd were later divorced, and he married Georgianne Roy-Gibson on July 28, 1962.

Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Russi and Dawn Rae Houk-Miller (Dave); one son, Bradley Gene Houk (Ruth); nine grandchildren, Marissa and Sean Miller, Anne (Paul) Sidhu, Sara Russi, Rachael Houk, Esther (Justin) Powers, Nathan (Sharon) Houk, Priscilla (Brennan) Mancil, and Anna Houk; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Georgianne; infant son, Brett Allen Houk; brother, Eugene Henry Houk; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Houk; and uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Floyd retired from Fiat Allis in 1985, and from Sears Roebuck and Company in 2005. He graduated from Farmersville High School in 1951. He was a lifetime member of Springfield Elks Lodge #158, Chatham Central Masonic Lodge #523, Springfield Consistory, Ansar Shrines for 53 years and a lifetime member of the Prop Club Lake Springfield, IL.

Visitation: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Pastor Donn Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s in St. Louis.
