Frank Paul Jones, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 74, after a life marked by dedication, creativity, and service. He was born on September 9, 1950, in Springfield, IL, to the late Silas Howard Jones and Josephine Bordignon Jones.

He was a proud 1969 graduate of Lanphier High School, where his interest in technology first sparked. This interest blossomed into a rewarding career as he went on to work for the State of Illinois as a programmer for the Department of Transportation. In this role, Frank's impressive skills and work ethic did not go unnoticed, as he became respected both by his peers and the many whom his work impacted.

In 1987, Frank married his wife, Elaine Lael-Jones, and together they shared their love of gardening, dogs, dancing, and humor. He was blessed with two sons, Nick Jones and his fiancée Dana of Sherman, and Cody Wayne Jones of Sherman, who have carried on Frank's legacy of kindness and ingenuity. His joy was further multiplied with the birth of his two cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his beloved pup, Zoey.

As a longtime resident of Rochester, Illinois, Frank’s contributions were not limited to his professional life. He always tried to be involved in his local community, often seen leading Cub Scout Troops with a gentle yet enthusiastic spirit. His active involvement with the Rochester Historical Preservation Society showcased his love for both his town's rich heritage and for the preservation of its stories.

Frank lived a life of diverse interests and creative pursuits. He was known for his exceptional talent in woodworking. His handcrafted lawn chairs were not just fixtures of comfort but also symbols of his craftsmanship and the thoughtful consideration he put into each piece.

Cremation will be arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Sherman and no services will be held per Frank’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Frank to the Rochester Historical Preservation Society, PO Box 13, Rochester, IL 62563-0013.
