G. Joseph “Joe” Nicoud, Jr. of Springfield, IL, passed away at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Joe, the son of George J. Nicoud and L. Mae Geraghty Nicoud, was born on February 13, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI. The family moved to Springfield, IL in 1958. Joe graduated from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 1964. After graduation he entered the insurance industry working in Chicago, IL and London (Lloyds of London) England before returning to Springfield to join R.W. Troxell Insurance Agency.

Joe served as President, CEO of R.W. Troxell & Company until his retirement in 1991. In addition, he was active in and supported other religious, civic and professional organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a brother, Timohty J. Nicoud (Judy) of Florida and sister, Mary M. Zanardi (Mike) of Normal, IL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was previously a member of Illini Country Club, Sangamo Club, Island Bay Yacht Club and other great golf clubs in the United States and England. He was an avid golfer having traveled with great friends throughout the United States, Scotland, Ireland and England. Over the many years he acquired and sold works of art. He enjoyed reading, painting, a good game of backgammon and gin rummy.

In accordance with Joe’s wishes there will be no visitation, however a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 am. A private burial will take place in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Parish in memory of Joe.
