Gerald D. Grigg, 87, of Springfield, died at 9:40 pm, Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Villas Health Care East. He was born April 19, 1936 in Girard to Dale and Geraldine (Hays) Grigg. He married Evelyn M. Donovan on February 11, 1956, and she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Diane M. Nickel of Thayer and James R. (Debbie) Grigg of Auburn; one grandson, Jeremy M. (Kala) Grigg of Springfield; one great-grandson, Gavin M. Grigg; one step great-granddaughter, Katy Parsano; three stepsisters and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two stepsisters.

Gerald retired as a cook for St. John’s Hospital after 35 years of service. He enjoyed taking bus trips, camping, fishing, and watching the Chicago Bulls and the St. Louis Cardinals. His biggest enjoyment was watching his grandson and great-grandson’s sporting events.

Visitation: 5-7 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery, in Girard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
