Glen Edward Wallace, 86, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 11, 1938, in Springfield, the son of Glen B. and Helen Louise (Edwards) Wallace. He married the love of his life, B. Darlene Douglass, on July 7, 1963, and she survives.

Also surviving are his two children: daughter, Kimberly (John) Thomas of Evanston, WY; son, Roger C. (Julie) Wallace of Bartlett, IL; four grandchildren, Alexander G. (Tiffany) Wallace of Barrington, IL, Tiffany N. Wallace of Lisle, IL, Ryan J. Wallace of Bartlett, IL, and Angelina R. Wallace of Bartlett, IL; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joshua and Matthew, all of Barrington, IL; two sisters, Barbara (Robert) McGee of Fairbanks, AK and Beverly Franks of Chicago; brother, Steven (Deborah) Wallace of Anderson, CA; and several nieces, nephews; other beloved family members and his Goddaughter, Jennifer Lash.

Glen left behind a legacy of dedication, faith, and community service. He was a proud graduate of Lanphier High School in 1956. Following that, he attended Illinois State University for one year on a football scholarship. Then, he went on to serve in the United States Marines from 1958-1962. He was a devoted member of West Side Christian Church, where he held various leadership roles, including Deacon, Chairman of the Board, and Finance Chairman. He was also deeply committed to nurturing the next generation, serving as a Youth Sponsor and Bible School Teacher. Additionally, Glen shared his passion for sports by coaching volleyball. He also enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball with other West Siders. In his free time, he enjoyed running, a hobby that brought him joy and fulfillment. Professionally, he worked as a federally licensed grain inspector for 51 years, retiring in 2013 from Springfield Grain Inspection. In retirement, he treasured time with his loved ones and proudly bragged about them.

Visitation: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Monday, January 20, 2025, at West Side Christian Church.

Funeral Service: 12:00 pm, Monday, January 20, 2025, at West Side Christian Church with Cindy Lash officiating. A burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s – Chicago or West Side Christian Church.
