Hazel M. Sokolis, 97 of Springfield, passed away May 19, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born October 21, 1926 in Christian County, IL, the daughter of Harold and Agnes (Mendenhall) Crain. She married Richard W. Sokolis on February 24, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2005.

Also preceding her in death are her parents; two sisters, Pat Ashton and Betty Rhoades; three brothers, Raymond, John, and Bill Sokolis and two infant siblings.

Hazel is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Don) Hall of Lincoln and Ginger (Paul) Logan of Ironton, OH; five grandchildren, Scott (Debbie), Jeff (Cherice), Katie (Jared) Sarah (Darrin), and Thomas; six grandchildren, Joey, Addie, Jackson, Iris, Nickki, and Breanne; two great great granddaughters, Olivia and Ava and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel has been a resident of Springfield for most of her life and retired after 20 years of service for Sangamo Electric.

Graveside Service: 2 pm, Friday, May 31, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
