Jackie “Jack” Harmon Loyd, 96, of Dawson, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born August 24, 1925, in Springfield, the son of Owen Harmon and Edna Lee (Warren) Loyd. He married Betty Jane Barnett on October 21, 1950 and she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Danny Owen Loyd and Gail Ann Rister, both of Springfield; two grandchildren, Zachary Owen Loyd and Rachel Dian Moore; great-grandson, Ethan Jack Moore; and one nephew.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward W. Loyd.

Jack was an animal lover and enjoyed making pottery. He was a Ham Operator with code name “KB9”. He owned and operated auto-mechanic shop and also transported vehicles for Friendly Chevrolet for many years. Jack was a United States Army veteran, serving during WWII and retired from the Army Reserves, after 20 years of service.

Committal Service: 11:00 am, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
