Joan C. Bangert, 93, of Springfield, died at 8:30 am, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born December 16, 1930 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Luther James “Bud" and Elizabeth (Distelzweig) Huff. She married Donald Bangert on November 25, 1954 and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2015.

She is survived by three daughters, Stacey Wieties of Fayetteville, AR; Regina (Michael) Kaiser of Springfield and Elizabeth (Jeff) Friedman of Springfield; five sons, Peter Douglas “Doug” (Stacy) Bangert of Springfield, Bradley (Karen) Bangert of Dunlap, Craig (Shari) Bangert of Sherman, Scott (Shawn) Bangert of Springfield and Brian Bangert of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Joan was a lifelong resident of Springfield except for 4 years, which she spent in New York City. She was a member of Christ the King Church and enjoyed reading and gardening.

Visitation: 10 - 11 am Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Christ the King Church.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Christ the King Church with The Very Reverend Christopher House officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
