John Charles “Jack” Roberts, age 79, of Archer City, Texas passed away Monday morning, March 11, 2024 at his residence.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City officiating. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield, Illinois. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City and Staab Funeral Home of Springfield.

Jack was born December 19, 1944 in Springfield, Illinois to the late John Earl Roberts and Emma June Hamrick Roberts.

Jack graduated from Riverton Community High School in Riverton, Illinois. He worked in a bank for two years. He then joined the Air Force where he honorably served his country from 1964 until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement, he worked in Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base for twenty-eight years.

He and Shirley Bracey were married December 3, 1983 in Wichita Falls.

Jack was a longtime member of the Boy Scouts, Maskat Shrine Clowns, and Faith Masonic Lodge # 1158 in Wichita Falls. Since 1990, he was a member of the Archer City Volunteer Fire Department. Jack was also a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Archer City; nine sons, Charles Roberts of Decatur, Illinois, Jonathan Tyler and wife, Renee of Pampa, Bill Tyler and wife, Missy of Keller, Jimmy Howells of Archer City, James Howells and wife, Julianne of Kansas City, Kansas, Jason Howells and wife, Chelsea of Wichita Falls, Joshua Howells and wife, Nikki of Lockhart, Joe Roberts of Georgetown and Shane Roberts and wife, Alyssa of Bedford; one daughter, Angela Zane and husband, Dan of Valrico, Florida; two sisters, Esther Usher and Betty Freleigh of Springfield, Illinois; twenty-four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Ruby Hopkins of Archer City.

The family suggests memorials to the Archer City Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 367, Archer City, Texas 76351.
