John F. Maloney 84, of Springfield, died at 8:18 pm, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born August 1, 1940, in Alton, IL, to Daivd W. and Emily Schulz Maloney. He married Donna Haycraft on January 21, 1961, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cyndi Maloney of Springfield; one son, Dan (Ann) Maloney of Urbana; two grandchildren, J.D. (Hilarie) Maloney and Laura (Wade) Pelc; four great grandchildren, Leo Pelc, Levi Maloney, Ardyn Pelc and Haven Pelc; three sisters, Sharon (Charlie) Adams of Springfield, Mary Beth Maloney of Springfield and Marti (Kevin) Ellwood of Lawrenceville, GA; two brothers, David (Pauline) Maloney, Jr. of Dubuque, IA and Steve (Diane) Maloney of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mike and James “Pat” Maloney.

John was a US Navy veteran serving from 1960-1962. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Sangamon State University and retired as a Federal Auditor.

He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church.

Graveside Service: 11 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Old Salem Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
