John H. Bowen 75, of Springfield, died at 9:44 pm, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at his home. He was born April 16, 1949 in Peoria, to Joseph and Lois Gubbins Bowen. He married Carol McCurley on September 3, 1970 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter Kari (Mario) Borders of Springfield; three grandchildren, Nate, Anna and Abby Borders of Springfield; three sisters, Patty (Sandy) Bacia of FL, Joannie (David) McCallister of Auburn and Brett (Jerry) Young of Rochester; one sister-in-law, Rosie Bowen of Houston, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Michael, Robbie and Joe Bowen.

John was a US Army veteran. He retired as a photo engraver for Metal Décor.

He was of the Catholic faith and attended Little Flower Grade School. He was a member of HOG. His greatest joy and reason for living was his daughter and grandkids.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Monday, May 20, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Al Kemme officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
