John “Jack” F. Andrews, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:19 pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born February 26, 1937 in Oak Park, Illinois to Burt and Zola Morris Andrews. He married Carol A. Ervin on June 22, 1963 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jackie (Richard) Wright of Urbana; one son, John Patrick Andrews of Boston, MA; four grandchildren, Brandon Andrews, Joey, Johnny and Tommy Wright, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timmy Andrews; one daughter, Jane E. Andrews and one brother, Burt Andrews.

Jack was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of Christ the King Church. He was an Industrial Arts teacher for Tri-City High School, where he was the wrestling coach and served as Transportation Director.

He was a past commodore at the Springfield Motor Boat Club; an avid card player; remained very active in his workshop and loved the Philadelphia Phillies.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Reverend Christopher House officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Christ the King Church.
