A skilled carpenter and jack of all trades, John worked in home construction for Hypke Brothers after serving in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He then became a maintenance technician for Dickey – John, where he retired after 14 years.

In retirement, John was able to do many of his favorite hobbies including bowling, fishing, and hunting. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #32. John loved being involved in various bowling leagues. Because of John’s selflessness and dedication to the U.S., he was invited on the Honor Flight for Korean War Veterans as a token of America’s gratitude for his service.

The family will host a memorial service at 11 am, Monday, January 27, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2477 W Washington St., Springfield with continued fellowship following.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
