Joseph “Joe” H. Fleischli II, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was born on February 1, 1941, to Joseph H., Sr. and Anna May (Morgan) Fleischli. He married the love of his life, Donna L. Tobias on December 2, 1983, and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2023.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Joe is survived by his two children, Marcena Fleischli of Springfield, and Joseph H. (Adriana) Fleischli III of Las Vegas; newborn grandson, Joseph H. Fleischli IV, whom he was absolutely thrilled to meet; sister, Anna May Brown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe was a resident of Springfield all his life and was a graduate of Griffin High School. He then became a boilermaker and welder and worked at Otto American Boiler & Steel Co. for many years, eventually buying into it and becoming an owner. He was also into explosives, helping to demolish bridges, coining the name “Dynamite Joe” and was a 50-year member of the International Society of Explosive Engineers.

Joe was a devout Catholic and found great solace in going to Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, where he’d arrive 30 minutes early and be at his regular pew.

Visitation: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Church.

Funeral Mass: 12:30 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Tomy Philip officiating. A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
