Joshua “Josh” J. Bell, 48, passed away on September 29, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 22, 1975 to Paul P. and Patricia “Pat” D. (Sample) Bell, and they survive. He married Stephanie P. Woolard on October 25, 1997 and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Angela M. Bell (fiancé, Jinx Shaw) of Kincaid; one brother, Christopher Bell (fiancé Ana Faria) of Gulfport, FL; mother and father-in-law, Glenda and Rusty Woolard of Taylorville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Heather (Gee) Woolard of Pana, IL and Andrea (Andy) Shoemaker of New Bern, NC; several aunts and uncles, Dan (Beverly) Bell of Pinon, New Mexico, Steven (Kathleen) Bell of Bella Vista, AR, Evalyn (Dewayne) Donley of Florissant, MO, Donna (Jon) Hau of Monee, IL, Paul (Heidi) Woolard of TN, Mike Barr and Lois Barr of Pana, IL and Mel Barr of Minneapolis, MN; nieces and nephews, Makenna (Ryan) Brown of Carrollton, TX, Clayton, Autumn and Shaelynn Woolard of Pana, IL, Tristan and Nathan Shoemaker of New Bern, NC and Amanda (Carisa) Wilson of Belleville, IL and several great aunts and uncles.
Josh was a lifelong resident of Springfield, a 1993 graduate of Springfield Southeast High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. He owned and operated Great American License Services, Inc. “G.A.L.S”, and he was also a musician for several years.
Josh was a member of Clearlake Church of Christ. He was very involved in Catan and enjoyed playing poker, darts, Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, any board games, card games, washers, bags, and was an avid camper.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, James and Irene Sample and Grover and Goldie Bell; grandparents-in-law, Paul and Arlen Barr and Bob and Janetta Calvart; great uncle, Bob Laurent and second cousin, Todd Laurent.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, October 6, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Preacher Rex Crossland and Associate Minister Ryan Miller officiating. Burial with follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
