Karen J. Davis, 84, of Riverton, passed away at 3:25 pm, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born May 3, 1941, in Doylestown, Ohio, the daughter of Wallace and Ruth (Brandon) Weaver. She married Norman Wayne Davis in 1966, and he preceded her in death March 16, 1986.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Dennis Weaver and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Weaver.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Wayne (Theresa) Davis of Sherman and Jay William (Karolina) Davis of the Czech Republic; six grandchildren, Meghan (Andrew) Lerch, Rachel, Faith and Sarah (Cody Willis) Davis and Mia and Lucinka Davis; three great grandchildren, Maeve Willis, Ellen and Isaac Lerch; sister, Jill (Jim) Rackhan of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law, Linda Weaver of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers, Jim Weaver of Rittman, OH and Fred Weaver of Norton, OH and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Throughout Karen’s life her Faith, family and her friends were most important. Karen’s family has a long legacy of service to Christ, as ministers, missionaries, Sunday school teachers, youth leaders and Elders /Deacons in the Christian Church. Karen followed these examples graduating from Cincinnati Bible College in 1963. A lifelong friend and her moved to Springfield, Illinois together to teach at Westside Christian School. In Illinois, she met her husband Norman (Norm) Davis, they married in 1966, starting their family and raising two sons. Karen became a widow in 1986, her strong faith sustained her. She continued to raise and support her family, adjusting and living a full independent life.

For 58 years, Karen was an active member of Riverton Christian Church, teaching Sunday school and serving as an Elder’s wife assisting in various ways. She had a gift of hospitality hosting missionaries and foreign exchange students in her home. Also having home Bible studies and social events (their annual Christmas party was legendary).

Karen’s family was also a central part of her life. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren (and great) by shopping for the cutest outfits. She loved celebrating holidays, birthdays and all milestones. Sunday family dinners together were special. She had a knack for choosing the perfect fun gift. Never hesitated lending a hand, keeping multiple littles, giving mom and dad a break. Karen had generous spirit, if you stopped by you would come home loaded with homemade cookies, chili or vegetable soup. Karen was very social and loved spending time with her friends. She had many lifetime and new friends. They went shopping, out to eat, went on day trips, attended church functions. They enjoyed puzzles, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and just being there for one another. Karen had a special fondness for babies in addition to her grandchildren.

For 22 years, Karen worked at All His Children Day care. Parents entrusted into her loving arms their babies to rock, feed, and love until she retired at age 76. Karen was a special lady with a kind, loving, and generous spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In her last days, she said “to be absent from the body is to be with Lord“. May you rest now with Lord.
