Kathryn Martin, 88, of Springfield, died at 9:45 am, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Villas of Holly Brook in Chatham. She was born August 4, 1935 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Martin and Kathryn (Albright) Coleman. She married George Martin December 29, 1956 and he preceded her in death April 2, 1994.
She is survived by two sons, William George Martin of Colorado Springs, CO and Stephen “SJ” (Tina) Martin of Springfield; 4 grandchildren, Katelyn, Mason, Kyle and Tyler “TJ”; two step grandchildren, Devin and Aaron; three great grandchildren, Ophelia, Magnolia and Sawyer; one sister, Lorraine Cass of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; an infant son; two daughters, Martha Martin and Mary Kathryn Martin; four sisters, Dorothy Serra, Mary Francis Mander, Rita Greenwood and Patricia Conover.
Kathryn worked for the US Bankruptcy Court for 20 years. After retirement, she worked part time for Nichles Radon Reduction.
She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
Visitation: 9-11 am, Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am Thursday, St. Patrick’s Church with Reverend Jim Isaacson officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
