Laura Jo Rhoades, 69, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Laura was born August 8, 1954 to Joseph R. and Mary L. (Hayes) Carlove in Springfield, IL. She married Ronald Rhoades in 2011 and he preceded her in death in 2020.

Laura graduated from Lanphier High School and received her nursing degree from LLCC. Laura was a Registered Nurse at Springfield Memorial Hospital, and then for the State of Illinois at McFarland Mental Health until she retired in 2017. She had lived in Springfield for most of her life, but was formerly of Decatur where she lived for 15 years.

Laura was an avid puzzler and enjoyed trips to Lake Michigan with family. She was a plant enthusiast with an affinity for daylilies. She treasured spending time with her family and her best friend Debbie McCarthy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and her daughter Amy Meyer in 2013.

She is survived by her children, Emil W. "Bill" (Wendi) Brincken Ill and Nathan Brincken; her grandchildren, Krista (Trevor) Trader, William (Nicole) Brincken, Marissa Boldon, Kelsi McCarthy, Sean McCarthy, Abby McCarthy, Halei Brincken, Jacob (Luz) Brincken, Jeremy Brincken, Zack Brincken, Michael Brincken, Logan Brincken and Noah Brincken; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Pam (RC) Manning, Mickey (Barb) Carlove, Dan Carlove, Sue (Tim) Vaughn, Kim (Joe) Smith, Carissa (Doug) Reynolds, Pat (Kara) Carlove, and Tim Carlove; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: 10:00 – 11:30 am, Monday, July 1, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, July 1, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Rev. Donn Stephens officiating. A burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League or to Veterans Helping Veterans, 1619 Resthaven Road, Peoria, IL.
