Lawrence “Larry” L. Senger, 84, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 3, 1941, in Springfield, IL, the son of Carl E. and Ann J. (Bakunas) Senger. He married the love of his life, Susan E. Gschwend on January 25, 1964, and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2012.
He is also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ann Sgro.
He is survived by his children, Laura (Craig) Reiser of Springfield, Mark (Jackie) Senger of Gurnee and Rebecca (Joel) Antonacci of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Zach) Rawles, Luke (Abby) Reiser, Carl Senger, Maxwell (Taylor) Senger, Will (Caitlin) Reiser, Katherine Senger and Teresa Antonacci; five great-grandchildren, Madeline, Anna, Elizabeth, Brooke and Jack; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a graduate of Cathedral Boys High School. He also attended Springfield College in IL and received his bachelor’s in accounting from the University of IL – Urbana/Champaign.
He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for Sangamo Electric, Dickey John and then for Staab Funeral Homes from 1998 - 2013 where he served as treasurer.
Larry was a faithful and dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was a member of Springfield Motorboat Club with his wife, Sue, for many years. Larry was passionate about the Ducks Unlimited organization, where he was a sponsor for over 40 years. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and enjoying the IL river with family and friends.
Visitation: 10 – 11:30 am, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Jefferey Grant officiating. A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament School.
